Place a text label on the map

Places text on the map and animates it in. Labels are how a map video says what it is showing — a country name, a date, a figure, a one-line caption — so the viewer reads the point instead of guessing it from a camera move.

How to

1. Add the action; the Label style panel opens with it and the text lands at the centre of the view.
2. Type the wording in the Label text field, then drag the label on the map to place it.
3. Click Browse presets at the top of the Label style panel to pick a design.
4. Set Label size — it scales the whole label: marker, plate and spacing.
5. Pick the entrance in the Animation tab: Fade, Rise, Pop, Typewriter or Instant.

Tips

• Add a Hide layers action once a label's subject has moved on, so each scene carries only what it needs.
