Write a block of text on the map

Writes a block of prose on the map and animates it in. Where a label marks a place in one line, a Text carries a paragraph — a quotation, a caption, a title card — and keeps the line breaks you typed, so a map video can say something at length instead of only naming things.

How to

1. Add the action, then type the prose straight on the map; press Enter wherever you want a new line, and emoji work alongside the words.
2. Open the Layout tab and set Wrap width — the column the block folds into. Size does not change it, so a bigger Text re-wraps in the same column.
3. Bend the block with Curve in the same tab: above zero it arches up, below zero it arches down.
4. Raise Altitude to float the block above the ground, in kilometres — the higher it sits the larger it looms as the camera comes in, and the camera can fly straight past it.
5. Turn on Follow camera when you want a title: the block is pinned to the frame and stays put while the map moves underneath it.
6. Pick one of the ten entrances in the Animation tab, and style the words themselves in the Text and Box tabs.
7. Drag the block on the map to place it, and add a Hide layers action to take it back off.

Tips

• Text is free on every plan — nothing about it is held back for a paid tier.
• Altitude and Follow camera answer different questions: a pinned block sits on the frame, so it has no ground to stand above and the Altitude slider says so.
