TL;DR
Short version: TravelBoast is a phone app for iOS and Android that turns a trip into a short 3D travel video. You draw or import the route, pick a vehicle, add photos at the stops, and save a video for Instagram or TikTok. Its subscription removes the watermark and unlocks 4K, and it is cheaper per month than any paid Animaps plan. Animaps is a map animation studio in the browser, with no phone app. It is built for maps that explain: borders, fills, labels, historical maps and routes, from a text prompt or by hand. If your video is your trip and you make it on your phone, TravelBoast is the better fit.

What Each Tool Is For
TravelBoast is a travel animation app. Its site says "Create stunning animations of your journeys" and names YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other social media as the places those videos go. You set route points on a 3D map or on a globe, choose a vehicle, and press start. Its FAQ explains that you can change the vehicle at any point, and add a description, photo or video at a point with the "Annotation" option. The site says the app has been around since 2019 and claims 20+ million downloads. The Google Play listing shows 10M+ downloads on Android alone.
Its store pages tie it to social trends too. The Google Play description mentions the "Distance trend on TikTok," the short videos that show how far someone travelled.
Animaps is a map animation studio. You describe what you want in plain English, for example "road trip from Paris to Rome by car, then highlight Italy," and it returns a list of steps. Each step has a live preview, and you can change its timing, target, colour or camera angle. You can also build every step by hand. Its site lists 23 animation types, from camera moves to border tracing, land fills, labels, icons, road, air, sea and rail routes, and historical border timelapses for 5,500+ empires, states and countries.
The simple way to say it: TravelBoast animates your trip. Animaps animates a map, and a trip is one of the things it can show.
Pricing Side by Side
TravelBoast
The app is free to download. On the US App Store, the in-app purchases are listed as:
Swipe sideways to see the whole table.
| Purchase | Price (US App Store) |
|---|---|
| One-week subscription | $2.99 |
| One-month subscription | $5.99 |
| One-year subscription | $17.99 and $29.99 (two listings) |
| Single vehicles | $1.99 each (for example Car, Airplane, Backpacker) |
The Google Play listing shows in-app purchases from "$5.99 - $24.99 per item" and says the Android app "Contains ads." Store prices change by country, so check your own store.
Its FAQ lists what the subscription gives you: unlocked models and effects, "No watermarks on generated videos," the "Ability to save videos in 4K," routes saved on your device and in the cloud, and no ads. You cancel through Apple or Google, because the FAQ says "developers cannot cancel subscriptions."
Animaps

| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 12 credits per month (up to 6 animations), 1080p, watermarked, 30 second maximum, 4 AI prompts per month |
| Starter | $9.90 per month, $99 a year | 120 credits per month (up to 60 animations), 1080p, no watermark, 45 second maximum, GeoJSON import, sound effects and music |
| Pro | $19.90 per month, $199 a year | 250 credits per month (up to 125 animations), 1440p included, 60 second maximum, image import, 3D terrain and buildings, priority support |
Each AI prompt costs 2 credits on every Animaps plan. Editing and preview by hand are free and unlimited. Credits go to AI prompts and exports. Plan credits reset each month, and credit packs you buy separately do not expire.
TravelBoast is cheaper. Its monthly subscription is $5.99 on the US App Store, against $9.90 for Animaps Starter. TravelBoast's subscription includes 4K, where Animaps tops out at 1440p on the $19.90 Pro plan. If you only need to make a travel video now and then, the weekly option at $2.99 is also a cheap way to remove the watermark for one trip.
Animaps meters output with credits, so a plan covers a set number of short animations per month. TravelBoast's pages do not list a monthly export limit.
Export and Resolution
TravelBoast exports up to 4K with a subscription. That beats Animaps, which caps at 1440p. Its site also says its 3D models are handcrafted by artists and are "genuinely suitable for 4K video." If you want to crop into the video in post or deliver 4K, TravelBoast has the edge.
TravelBoast's site and store pages do not state the video length limit, the frame rate or the aspect ratios. The app saves the video to your phone, ready to post.
Animaps exports MP4 or GIF at 30 or 60 FPS. It supports 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1, so one animation works for YouTube, Shorts, TikTok, Reels and feed posts. Exports are 1080p on every plan and 1440p on Pro. Each animation has a length cap of 30, 45 or 60 seconds depending on the plan, and GIFs are capped at 6 seconds.
Routes, Vehicles and Photos
This is TravelBoast's home ground, and it does it well.
Routes. You can place points by hand, import a GPX file, or paste a Google Maps route. Its FAQ explains three ways to open a GPX file, including the "Load GPX file" button. Its site says the route animation "follows roads and GPS tracks." You can log in with a Google or Apple account to move your routes between devices.
Vehicles. Its site lists 250+ vehicles, from cars and planes to a horse, and you can change the vehicle at any point on the route. Its comparison page lists model colour choice and the combination of two 3D models among its features. Some vehicles are sold one by one for $1.99 on the App Store.
Photos. You can attach a photo or a video to a route point, so the recap shows your own pictures along the way.
Animaps handles routes as one animation type among many. It traces road, air, sea and rail routes with moving icons and labels, and can follow a route with the camera. It carries 921 3D models and 10,100+ icons. You can import GeoJSON on Starter and Pro, and images on Pro, but there is no GPX import. It is not built around your photos at each stop.
If your video is a holiday recap with photos and a GPX track from your watch, TravelBoast is the more direct tool.
Maps That Explain
This is where Animaps does more.
TravelBoast is shaped around one journey. Its site and store pages do not describe country highlights, border tracing, region fills or historical maps.
Animaps covers those directly. You can trace or pulse a border, fill a country with a colour or a flag, add labels and icons, show data layers, and play back how borders changed over time. Scenes let several of these run at the same time, for example fly to a country while its border traces and a label appears. For a plane between airports, see flight path animation. The editor runs on a computer screen, which helps when you time each step to a voiceover.
So the question is what your video is about. A trip points to TravelBoast. A place, a region, a border or a piece of history points to Animaps.
Usage Rules
TravelBoast answers creators clearly. Its FAQ says: "Yes, you can use the videos on any platform, either 'as is' or with edits." For companies, it says "Use of the videos is subject to certain limitations," and links a separate document with the commercial terms. Read it if you make videos for a brand or a client.
Animaps puts a watermark on free plan exports. Starter and Pro remove it. Its pricing page also states that map-data attribution appears on all exports, including paid plans, and cannot be removed.
Who Should Choose Which
Choose TravelBoast if
Your video is your trip, and you want to make it on your phone.
You work on your phone. It is an iOS and Android app. Animaps has no phone app.
You want 4K for less. 4K comes with a $5.99 per month subscription on the US App Store. Animaps caps at 1440p.
You have a GPX track or a Google Maps route. Import it and animate the path you actually travelled.
You want photos along the route. Add a photo or video at any point.
You want many vehicles. 250+ vehicles, including characters and animals, with a colour choice.
You post travel trends on TikTok or Instagram. That is the audience the app is built for.
Choose Animaps if
Your video is about a place, a region or a story, and the route is only one part of it.
You need borders, fills and labels. Highlight a country, trace a border, label cities, and run them at the same time.
You make history or geography content. Border timelapses for 5,500+ empires, states and countries.
You want to start from a description. Write the sequence in plain English and edit the steps it returns.
You edit on a computer. The studio runs in a desktop browser, with a live preview for every step.
You need several formats from one animation. 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 from the same project.

The Bottom Line
TravelBoast is the better pick for a travel recap made on a phone. It is cheaper, it exports 4K with a subscription, and it handles GPX tracks, Google Maps routes, photos at each stop and hundreds of vehicles.
Animaps is the better pick when the map itself carries the story: borders, regions, labels, history and routes together, built from a prompt and edited step by step in the browser.
Ask what your video is about. Your trip points to TravelBoast. A place or a story points to Animaps.

Animaps vs anim8map: Travel Route Videos or a Full Map Studio?
These two tools are not built for the same job. anim8map makes animated 3D travel routes with stops, travel modes and your own photos, and sells per video or as a six-month pass. Animaps is a general map animation studio covering camera work, borders, labels and highlights on a monthly subscription. For a single trip recap, paying once beats subscribing. For ongoing map content, the subscription is the cheaper shape.

Animaps vs Mult.dev: A Trip Recap or a Map Animation Studio?
Mult.dev animates a journey: you add stops, pick the transport for each leg, drop your photos on the map, and export a travel recap, on your phone if you want, paid for once rather than by subscription. It imports GPX, KML and GeoJSON from Strava, Gaia and Komoot. Animaps animates a map: routes are one of 23 animation types alongside borders, fills, historical timelapses, labels and a globe view, with a step editor and published monthly pricing at $9.90 and $19.90.
